2004 Shelby Cobra concept

This 2004 Shelby Cobra concept roadster is inspired by the original 1964 Cobra that was developed by Carroll Shelby himself. The project was led by Manfred Rumpel from Ford’s Advanced Product Creation and built in 5 months.

“Massive motor in a tiny, lightweight car”

That is what Carroll Shelby said in 2004 about this car that features all-aluminum 6.4 liter V10 engine [605 HP, top speed – 185 mph/298 kmh]. The engine is set in rear-mid and has a lot potential in improving – there is no superchagers or turbo. The modified chassis is also aluminum and is taken from Ford GT production car [so as suspension]. 0-60 – in less than 4 seconds. Actually, as chief designer Richard Huttong said, design is mostly adopted to powertrain, spaceframe and suspension.

This is an other fresh looking unofficial interpretation of Cobra – Cobra Venom V8 by designer Jamie Martin from UK. Some projected specifications for this car: 4.6 liter OHC Ford’s V8 with 524 HP [supercharged], 6-speed manual gear box, traction control, anti-lock brakes, aluminum chassis, 17 inch wheels, etc.
